Andrea Iceruk

It was at the age of 13 that Andrea first began to study and create sculptures. After years of working with clay and creating stone carvings, the carving of waxes came naturally to her.
Her formal education began with a degree from the University of Toronto, with a BA, BEd; and to note was one of the first three female teachers to teach Industrial Arts in Ontario. Andrea's first job was teaching metal shop and lapidary to her students in an Etobicoke high school.
To further her own studies, Andrea attended the Ontario College of Art and pursued courses in welding sculpture during the evening, while still teaching her students during the day. After teaching full time for four years she decided to leave the profession to continue her own studies and enrolled in George Brown College's jewellery arts program.
With her comprehensive background welding experience, the transition was easy for her to shift from building large iron sculptures to creating miniature pieces constructed in precious metals.
Andrea returned to teaching upon graduation; this time teaching adults in at George Brown College's continuing education program. She has been teaching and working professionally as a goldsmith since 1978 creating custom work in silver, gold and platinum with precious stones.
