Dietje studied gold and silversmithing at college in Schoonhoven, Netherlands for 3 years followed by a 2 year of apprenticeship in Vancouver, British Columbia. Upon completion of her apprenticeship she decided to stay in Canada because of the plentiful job opportunities and the inspiring goldsmith community.
After working in Vancouver with such goldsmiths as Ragnar Jewellers, Gold & Silversmiths in Gastown and Brinkhaus Jewellers she struck out on her own and in 1990 she opened Forge & Form her own retail shop studio located on Granville Island.
In August, 2002 Dietje and her husband moved from British Columbia to Canmore, Alberta where she now resides and works in her retail shop/studio since 2003.
