---------------------------
The jewellery created by Guy-Yves Hotte is an integral part of a distinct progression. Guy-Yves was introduced to the fine arts by Brother Jérôme, later became interested in industrial design, but ultimately devoted himself exclusively to the creation of silver jewelry.
Guy-Yves graduated from the `École de Joaillerie et de Métaux d’Art de Montréal`. In 1989, he earned the recognition of his peers and was awarded the ¨Création d’un Bijou (Jewellery Creation)¨ sponsored by the Corporation of Quebec Jewellers (Corporation des Bijoutiers du Québec).
Guy-Yves draws his inspiration from a wide range of sources, from the natural world of fields, valleys and mountains to the various cultural artifacts and art forms in museums around the world.
Because of his love for his craft, Guy-Yves spends hours producing the chains of his necklaces one link at a time. Each piece is unique and illustrates his originality and command of his technique. For some of his creations, representing human forms, he will assign surnames, which serve to personalize the pieces.
Guy-Yves’ brooches, necklaces, earrings and other silver art objects are widely admired and appreciated for their originality, boldness and strength of design.
