"FORMULA"
4th annual National Juried Exhibition of Canadian Fine Jewellery
and Metalwork at Zilberschmuck Art - Jewellery, Toronto
March 23rd to May 3rd, 2008
Opening reception March 27th, 7 pm to 10 pm

Andrea DenElzen - Robert K. Chen - Best in Show - Claudio Pino - Honourable Mention
Zilberschmuck Art-Jewellery, Toronto, is proud to present the winners and selected entries for "Formula" the fourth annual national juried jewellery arts exhibition from March 23rd to May 3rd, 2008.
In September 2007, Zilberschmuck invited Canadian jewellers and metalsmiths both professional and jewellery arts students to interpret the term “FORMULA”. Was it a recipe, prescription or a conventional method for the performance of some task? Was it a rule, principle, or a symbolic expression? Did it involve mathematics, chemistry or some other discipline? How could a set form of words or symbols be materialized as a three-dimensional piece?
The Best in Show went to Robert K. Chen, a George Brown College student, for his piece "My Formula is: 1", a set of stylized rings patterned after the Mercedes-Benz F1 racecar depicting first, second and third place finish of Formula racing in 22 k yellow gold, sterling silver and bronze with a final airbrush of automotive paints.
Schools whose students’ work will be showcased in the exhibition also include Ontario College of Art and Design and Kootenay School of the Arts.
Juried on March 9th, 2008, the judges, Jessica Bent, writer and lecturer of antique jewellery, Ulrich Dehez, master goldsmith and Paul Dowsett, architect, awarded the prizes and selected the following submissions for inclusion in the exhibition:
