Janette Rojas

Janette holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Windsor for
photography and painting.

The daughter of an avid amateur photographer, she grew up around cameras and
darkrooms. The camera has played a major role in her paintings serving as a
notebook for her ideas. Now, she follows in her mother’s footsteps – a
camera is her constant companion, and she too has accumulated a mass of
treasured pictures.

Although photography is like a natural reflex to her, painting is her true
passion. Each painting begins from a snapshot of a special event –
sometimes remarkable, sometimes modest. The painting recaptures the
sentiment of the original image, unfolding as a pilgrimage back to the
candid, playful, and often quiet moment that inspired it.

Even though her work begins with her own personal memories, she is thrilled
and inspired when her paintings evoke special memories and dreams in someone
who catches a glance of her “family album.”
