PAUL BRADLEY
In this exhibit, the artist mixes his fascination with the night sky and the stories written in the stars with his interest in the human body.
The stars are amazing at a glance they appear so rigid, but, given time, they drift by and tell a story of fantastic events that become myth, and eventually find themselves eternalized in the sky. The odd situation of something dynamic and alive, once famous for action, now frozen for all time, influences the works in this exhibition.
Central to these works is the human body.
Subjects often inspire the medium to work in. This group of work is no exception. Figures are built up in oil and usually contain some encaustic to help add some interest and depth to the surrounding ground. The stars, which are often photographed and are sources of light, decided for
themselves that they would be best reconstructed as backlit photographs.
