It is Petras belief that good design, craftsmanship and wearability are the three pillars of a strong piece; and that you could not have one without the other.
Her traditional training in a Swiss goldsmith studio and her European background along with an open mind to new things are definitely reflected in her jewellery.
It is her openness to, and awareness of, daily occurrences that become the source of her inspiration. Suddenly, very common things can become pieces of jewellery. She loves to create pieces with a minimalists approach using elements and forms derived from nature that she reduces and transforms into abstract shapes.
In the end, it is the simplicity of a piece that fascinates her the most and that is what she strives to achieve.
Born in Buckten, Switzerland in 1968, Petra apprenticed to become a goldsmith at Juwelier Kurz AG in Basel, Switzerland before coming to Canada in 1995.
She was the recipient of the Siverhawk 5th jewellery award in 2000 and the 2004 Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, Jewellery Award honourable mention.
