Tim Hough
At 12 took part in Saturday morning classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Later on he developed an interest in drawing the human figure and in illustration. He attended the Ontario College of Art and participated in the off-campus studies program in Florence, Italy, in 1980-81 and explored some of the many disciplines of visual art.
After Graduating he pursued a career as caricaturist and illustrator and eventually focused in on his interest in realism and nature. "I consider myself to be a realist and I like to work with nature themes, and landscapes." says Tim. "My main interests currently are urban landscapes. I find the colours, patterns and forms found in nature to be and endless source of fascination and inspiration for me. I enjoy working in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, tempera and watercolour. I am interested in landscapes, wildlife and domestic animals, environmental as well as human issues."
After many years of painting animals, as well as landscapes, he is currently working on a series of urban landscapes of his native Toronto, focusing in on the Leslie Street spit, near where he lives. "Painting cityscapes is a bit of a departure for me, but I am excited about it." His work hangs in collections in Canada, Europe and the United States.
